What’s behind the red door? It’s like an old bank right now, but plans are afoot to change the old Wellington HSBC Bank into an arthouse cinema and bistro.
The building sits at the head of Station Approach in Wellington and has been empty for a few years since the HSBC bank closed its doors and shut up shop. Work will start in late 2018 to transform the space from functional corporate drab and bring a fully functional cinema back to the town.
As part of the Telford 50 celebrations, a team of experts have been inside the building to plot every nook and cranny before this work takes place, to give you an insight into what a bank looks like after the last withdrawal. The virtual tour has been uploaded and is now available to view.
If you would like to get involved with the project as a volunteer or even an investor by buying a few shares in the venture, you can go along to the Volunteers meeting at 7:30pm on Monday 10th September to find out more..
