Volunteering

Without our wonderful team of volunteers, we would not be able to operate. Backed up by our paid staff, volunteers are valued and appreciated for the time they give us on a daily or weekly basis. Some volunteers give us a few 'sessions' a week, others just give us one 'session' a week. It is entirely up to you!

The roles are varied, from helping to clear the café tables and washing up, helping our chef, Hannah in the kitchen or even making hot drinks on the barista machine. We also need regular cinema stewards to show people to their seats as well as volunteers on the servery to take café orders and wait on tables.

From one of our volunteers who left us to take on paid employment:

‘I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed working at the Orbit and with such a lovely team of people. I’m really going to miss it and hope that I will be able to volunteer again in the future. Thanks for making me feel so welcome’.

And another one, this young lady volunteered with us before she went on to University.

‘I just wanted to say a huge, huge thank you for the last couple of months. I have had the most amazing time, met great people and will never forget my time at the Orbit. I never thought at that first interview I would feel so much at home at the Orbit. But hey-ho, I do! And I will DEFINITELY be back!’

We are also happy to accommodate work experience pupils from school (subject to parental or guardian consent as well as school agreement) or college and we also accept Duke of Edinburgh Course volunteers.
